about

Single, released 25th March 2023.`

lyrics

I've craved this ocean view
this vast expanse of blue
where the horizon fades
so seamless to a peachy hue

Coveting its endless depth
its capacity to digest
an ample body in which
I can cast my weight into

But now that I am here
I cannot catch my breath
I writhe and shudder
with the suffocating tremors of death.

Clamped between the teeth
of some vicious beast
its jaw an ever-tightening vice
squeezing the life from me

In vain I wriggle and contract
until the moment I am spat
on to the death pile
just another empty shell

Let's talk about trauma
I know how it feels
it sends tremors
with the power to peel
away the layers
of a time-toughened skin
until there's nothing left
but the essence that's within
concealed, unfeeled, undealt with
so you write your own story
a heroic narrative
and get so lost
that you start to believe the myth
before you know it,
you're vulnerable
and you don't have the means to show it
cos you constructed an ego
and you're scared to blow
cos it's taken so much
time and pain and graft
to grow it.
